It all started with browsing on Pinterest to find things to do with dehydrated herbs. I have an abundance of herbs in my garden and I have been trying to figure out what to do with them. I read about soaps, scrubs, and all kinds of stuff but a common denominator in all of the recipes was essential oils. Then while browsing on Instagram, a friend Lynsey @fivechickswellness posted about Young Living essential oils. I was immediately intrigued and placed an order through her site. The first night that the oils came in, I googled diffuser recipes and several sleep aids kept popping up. I saw one that said “Liquid Ambien”, since my husband sleeps about 3 to 5 hours every night of course I wanted to use him as a guinea pig. I set the diffuser on his night stand, followed the instructions on the water level and then put WAY too much lavender and copaiba in the water. How much? Oh I don’t know, like 20 or more drops of each. It was overkill. After about 15 minutes (my husband wasn’t even in bed yet) I started to feel like Dorothy walking to Oz through the poppy field. I passed out and when I woke up, I felt like I woke from the dead. So…. don’t put that much! I learned my lesson. BUT the mister slept until almost 10:00AM!!!! HOLY WHAT???? That has never happened. When he woke up he asked me if I drugged him. Well…. kind of but not purposefully. Since then, I have played around with different amounts of lavender and copaiba and I’ve added other fun oils like bergamot, cedar wood, chamomile, vetiver, valor, etc… Insomnia no more! I have fallen in love with oils! Since the sleep “potion”, I have played around with making all kinds of things from lip gloss, SPF chapstick, wrinkle cream, pain cream, toothpaste, hormone balancer, plus much more! I am NOT good at being “ALL NATURAL” but I believe that if natural works, and its easily accessible, why the heck not? Sleep Potion Recipe

  • 5 drops Lavender
  • 3 Copaiba
  • 2 Stress Away
  • 1 Dream Catcher

*Note that you can put these in an empty roller ball and rub it on the bottom of your feet for an extra lil something.

*Drop amounts don’t have to be exact, just play around with it and see what works best for you
